MPC can help review your CT protocols per recommendations of the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). As minimum, we will review the following clinically significant protocols:
Routine protocol review:
- Adult head
- Adult abdomen (~150 lb)
- Pediatric head (1 y.o.)
- Pediatric abdomen (5 y.o., 50 lb)
- High-resolution chest
- Brain perfusion (if performed at facility)
Parameters reviewed:
- kV
- mA, mAs, or effective mAs
- Rotation time
- Scan pitch
- Detector configuration
- Reconstructed image thicknesses
- Reconstruction algorithms
- Radiation dose reduction
- Expected dose levels, to compare to national benchmarks
A more comprehensive protocol review can be performed in conjunction with your CT Protocol Review and Management Team. This task will require interaction with radiologists and technologists on the team and possibly some testing on the scanner.
