In order to meet the minimum objectives and requirements to be compliant with 49 CFR personnel handling hazardous materials must be trained in the following:
- General Awareness
- Function Specific (Transferring, Packaging, Markings, Labeling)
- Shipping Papers and Certification
- Safety
- Security Awareness
- Returning Sealed Sources
Proof that the person has been tested in these areas therefore the trainee must complete an exam. The most current certificate documenting training and testing must be on file and available at all times in accordance with 49CFR172.704.
