Dan started working at MPC in May 2016 as a Medical Health Physicist. He earned a BA in physics with a minor in mathematics and computer science from Ripon College in 1992.
In 2005, Dan was certified in Comprehensive Health Physics by the American Board of Health Physics. He is a member of the Health Physics Society (HPS) and has served as a counselor, president-elect and president of the North Central Chapter of the HPS. From 2019-2022 he was a member of the ABHP Part II Panel of Examiners that assisted in preparing and evaluating the Part II certification examination given by the ABHP each year.
Dan has over 30 years of health physics experience in both medical and research environments and is currently Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) on many radioactive material licenses throughout Wisconsin. He has been a RS) on broad scope radioactive materials licenses/permits, medical use licenses, and a service provider license. Dan has extensive experience calculating/testing radiation shielding for diagnostic radiation producing equipment, nuclear medicine facilities, and PET facilities. Other current duties include completing acceptance and annual nuclear medicine camera testing for TJC and ACR.
In the past Dan has been an instructor for Science Teacher Workshops and the Boy Scout Nuclear Science Merit Badge clinics. In his spare time, he enjoys being the robotics advisor and one of the lead mentors for FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team 6421, WarriorBots.
